Questions about pensions

A person who comes from Ukraine, who holds a temporary residence permit in Lithuania and has declared his residence in Lithuania, can apply for old age/social assistance old age, incapacity for work/social assistance disability pensions.

A person  who comes from Ukraine who has been granted asylum or temporary protection in the Republic of Lithuania must fulfil the following conditions: 
  • a temporary residence permit must be issued in Lithuania;
  • has declared his place of residence in Lithuania or has been entered in the records of non-declared persons of the place of residence (the pension benefits will not be granted if they have not declared their place of residence or are not included in the records of non-declarants of residence);
  • before moving to Lithuania, he/she received an old-age pension in Ukraine (then it is necessary to provide the certificate of the recipient of the pension issued in Ukraine, if the person holds such a certificate). 
 
If no old-age pension has been received in Ukraine, then he must have reached the age of old-age pension in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania and must provide the following documents proving the length of service (if any): 
  • documents proving the length of service completed before 31 December 1993 (work book, seniority certificates issued by former workplaces or archives, etc.);
  • military certificate (if you completed military service before 31.12.1994);
  • certificate of marriage or divorce (if the surname has been changed and the previous surname is indicated in the documents proving the length of service).
 
You must carry an identity document with you.

A decision on the awarding of old-age/lost work capacity pensions shall be taken within 30 calendar days from the receipt of the application and/or all necessary documents and data.

A decision on the awarding of social assistance old-age/social assistance disability pensions shall be taken within 10 working days of the decision on refusal to award an old-age/lost work capacity pension.

If no lost work capacity pension has been received in Ukraine, then she/he need to apply to the Disability and Working Capacity Assessment Service (hereinafter - NDNT) and provide to "Sodra" the following documents proving your length of service (if any):
  • documents proving the length of service completed before 31 December 1993 (work book, seniority certificates issued by former workplaces or archives, etc.);
  • military certificate (if you completed military service before 31.12.1994);
  • certificate of marriage or divorce (if the surname has been changed and the previous surname is indicated in the documents proving the length of service).
You must carry an identity document with you.

A child coming from Ukraine who has been granted asylum or temporary protection in the Republic of Lithuania must fulfil the following conditions:
  • a temporary residence permit must be issued;
  • has declared his place of residence in Lithuania or has been entered in the records of non-declared persons of the place of residence (the pension benefits will not be granted if they have not declared their place of residence or are not included in the records of non-declarants of residence);
  • before moving to Lithuania, she/he received a lost work capacity (invalidity) pension in Ukraine and NDNT had already established the disability rate.
 
You need to have:
  • a document proving the identity of the child;
  • the identity document of the representative of the child applying for the social assistance allowance;
  • a document certifying the existence of a parentage or guardianship and the appointment of a person as a guardian or caregiver, or a certified copy of these documents in accordance with the procedure laid down.

Pension benefits will only be paid into the accounts of the payment/credit institution located in Lithuania.

The application for the corresponding pension benefit can be submitted from 01/04/2022 upon arrival at the "Sodra" customer department/reception (you will be able to fill in the application on the spot). You have to have with you:

  • identity document;
  • personal account details to which the pension will be transferred.
