
Legally working code
The identification code of a legally working person (hereinafter – the Legally working code) is a unique QR code, that encrypts data on the status of an employee, self-employed person or a person who has been seconded to Lithuania, that is, after forming the Legally working code, it is possible to verify if the person is officially employed under an employment contract, a self-employed person or is a person who has been seconded to the Republic of Lithuania.
Employees can obtain the Legally working code:
- on the same day, after having logged in to the personal Sodra account for the resident > Select the menu item ‘Legally working code’ in the menu section on the left;
- after submitting a request at Sodra division. After the request is submitted, the issuance of the Legally working code may take up to 3 working days.
In case the person works for several employers and/or carries out several activities as a self-employed person, such a person shall be assigned with separate Legally working codes as per the employer and/or as per the activity that is carried out by the person as self-employed person.
Employers may obtain information about the Legally working codes, that have been assigned to their employees / employees who have been seconded to Lithuania:
- on the same day, after having logged in to the personal Sodra account for the insurer > Reports > ‘S54. Information about the Legally working codes that have been assigned‘;
- after submitting a request at Sodra division. After the request is submitted, the issuance of the Legally working code may take up to 3 working days.
The person who has been seconded to the Republic of Lithuania may obtain information about the Legally working code, that he has been assigned with, after submitting a request at Sodra division.
Important:
- An employer / the seconded foreigner‘s employer may obtain only those Legally working codes, that have been formed for his employees or for the foreigner‘s who have been seconded to him.
- Only pre-registered customers are served at Sodra divisions. You can register for the visit here.
The Legally working code can be verified by:
- State Labour Inspectorate;
- Financial Crime Investigation Service;
- police and other institutions;
- construction contractor and customer;
- a person, who has been assigned with the Legally working code or such a person may allow, at his own initiative, another person to verify the Legally working code in order to prove the correctness and validity of the data encrypted in the code.
Important: An employer / the host Lithuanian company must ensure that all his/its employees / employees that have been seconded to Lithuania, who must have the Legally working code, would have it and would provide it at the time of the inspection.
The validity of the Legally working code can be verified at www.sodra.lt/tikrinti with the help of a telephone or other computer device with a camera, after scanning the QR code.
Important:
The validity of the Legally working code is verified in real time. Therefore, Internet connection is required to verify the Legally working code. If the verification takes place when there is no Internet connection, it is then impossible to make sure whether or not the data encrypted in the QR code are valid at the time of the verification.
After the QR code is scanned at www.sodra.lt/tikrinti, the text ‘Verification in progress’ is shown on the device in the yellow background – the Legally working code is authentic and the program is trying to verify the data. After the data verification is completed, one of the following results is displayed on the screen of the device:
- the text ‘Valid’ is shown in the green background – the Legally working code is authentic and the data are valid;
- the text ‘Not valid’ is shown in the red background – the Legally working code is authentic, but the data are not valid;
- the text ‘Not valid’ is shown in the red background and the reason for invalidity is indicated – the Legally working code is not authentic and is not valid;
- the text ‘Verification failed’ is shown in the yellow background – during the verification, the verification device does not have Internet connection, or faults in the software are possible –
the Legally working code is authentic, but it is not possible to confirm that the data are valid.
The period of validity of the Legally working code is not established. The ID is cancelled automatically when:
- the employee is dismissed;
- the self-employed person ceases to be self-employed;
- the head of a small partnership (hereinafter – SP) loses the status of the head of the SP;
- the period, for which the employee has been seconded to work with the Lithuanian employer, has ended.
