I want to get a sick leave certificate for an epidemic situation

  1. Apply to “Sodra” for a sick leave certificate to care for your child (family member) due to an epidemic situation. You can apply directly online or by visiting a “Sodra” office.
  2. Inform your employer that you will be caring for a child/family member and cannot work.

  1. Insured persons (employed, self-employed).
  2. Unemployed persons (persons registered with the Employment Service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania).
“Sodra” issues sick leave certificates to insured and unemployed persons in the following cases, when it is necessary to care for a child (family member):
  1. in the event of an emergency or quarantine, when it is necessary to look after a child or disabled person, or in other cases;
  2. short-term social care in a non-residential social services institution (day centre) for a person with a disability or who has reached retirement age, and the institution's activities are suspended during an emergency and/or quarantine. 
  3. when a child under 8 years of age who is not yet in primary school, a child in primary school or a disabled person in general or special education (hereinafter - the child or disabled person) is subject to an infection control regime (hereinafter – ICR) in an educational establishment during one of the following periods:
  • In the event of a government emergency and/or quarantine;
  • during an outbreak of infectious diseases or a declared epidemic (in the absence of a declared emergency and/or quarantine);

 IMPORTANT

Please note that the National Public Health Centre (NPHC) will continue to issue sick leave certificates for persons placed in compulsory isolation.

Apply for a sick leave certificate to care for a child/family member due to an epidemic situation. It can be submitted:
  1. Online, by logging in to the resident’s personal “Sodra” account and selecting the Application for a sick leave certificate for the care of a child (family member) due to an epidemic situation, GPS25.
  2. By mail – the application form can be downloaded here. If sending by mail, a copy of the identity document, certified in accordance with the law (e.g. by a notary), must be attached.
  3. A member of staff will fill in the application form and give it to you to sign when you arrive at the “Sodra” office
  • You must have a proof of identity (passport, ID card, residence permit) upon arrival;
 IMPORTANT! If you haven't already submitted an application for sickness benefit, make sure you do, otherwise you won't be paid sickness benefit on the sick leave certificate(s) you have been issued. Ways in which you can do it:
  1. Online, by logging in to the resident's personal “Sodra” account and selecting Sickness benefit (including nursing care) application (open-ended), GPS1.
  2. By mail - the application form can be downloaded here. If sending by mail, a copy of the identity document, certified in accordance with the law (e.g. by a notary), must be attached.
  3. A member of staff will fill in the application form and give it to you to sign when you arrive at the “Sodra” office. When you arrive:
  • You must have a proof of identity (passport, ID card, residence permit) upon arrival;
  • You need to know the details of the personal account into which the benefit will be paid.

  1. Sick leave certificates are issued no later than within 2 working days from the date of receipt of all the necessary documents and/or information at the “Sodra” office.
  2. The sick leave certificate shall be issued for a maximum period of 14 calendar days.
  3. The sick leave certificate is issued on the basis of the information provided in the application form and after obtaining information on:
  • attending a childcare or educational establishment
  • the activities of non-residential social services (day centres) and the people who attend them.
 It is important to know that:
  • You will be informed about the sick leave certificate issued to you and the reasons for not being issued via your personal resident’s “Sodra” account in the “Messages” section.
  • You can view detailed information about the sick leave certificates issued to the insured person by logging in to the personal resident’s “Sodra” account and creating the REP.12 summary “Information about electronic sick leave certificates issued to the person”.
  • Sickness benefit is payable only for the period approved by one of the competent bodies (educational establishment or non-residential social services establishment (day centre)) - the period of the IPRR or the suspension of the establishment visited - even if the sickness certificate is issued for a longer period.
  • A sick leave certificate will not be issued unless the competent body approves the ICR or the period of suspension of the establishment visited.
  • Unemployment insurance benefits are not extended when the sick leave certificate is issued to care for a child (family member).
