- Receive a document granting the right to live in Lithuania (if you do not have a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania) and declare your place of residence in Lithuania.
- According to legal acts and international agreements, payment of a pension previously granted to them in a foreign country can be renewed (continued) to foreign citizens who live in Lithuania (except citizens of the Russia who can be granted a pension in Lithuania based on their social insurance record and income in Russia).
- Submit an application to the "Sodra" regarding the renewal or continuation of payment of the pension.
- The principle of the export of benefits is applicable to persons living in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland. This means that when a person moves from one of these countries to another, payment of the pension is continued by the country which granted the pension.
So if the pensioner comes from Greece to Lithuania, payment of the pension is continued by the institution of the Greece which granted the pension.
For the renewal of the benefit granted in Canada, you need to apply to the "Sodra" department with an application to continue to pay a benefit granted in Canada.
The application must include:
- the exact place of residence in Canada (address);
- the bank account of the institution of the Canada which has paid the benefit to which the benefit is sought.
Needed documents:
- An identity document.
- A document confirming the fact of the grant (receipt) of the benefit in Canada (if you have such document).
The "Sodra" department will transfer these documents to the competent authority of the Canada, which will decide on the continuation of the payment.
- The agreement with Russia is valid for all types of pensions provided for in national law of Lithuania and Russia, with the exception of pensions of officials of military and internal affairs institutions.
- Thus, when a pensioner has moved permanently from Russia to Lithuania, the payment of a pension in Russia is terminated and the pension is granted and paid in Lithuania from the date on which his pension was terminated in Russia.
- The agreement provides that if a pension is not entitled in accordance with national law to a person who came, until he will acquire such right, payment of the pension is continued by the country which granted the pension.
When a pensioner has moved from Russia to Lithuania, he must:
- apply to the relevant institution for the identity document and / or permit for residence in Lithuania;
- apply for granting a pension to the "Sodra" department, which will decide on the granting / not granting of a pension.
A pensioner must submit the following document to the "Sodra":
- A filled-in application to grant a pension.
- An identity document: passport, permit for temporary / permanent residence in Lithuania.
- Documents proving social insurance record (workbook, social insurance record certificates issued by former employees or archives, etc.).
- Certificates of income (salary).
- A certificate issued by the competent institution of the Russian Federation on the termination of payment of the pension in this country (if the pension was granted).
Documents issued in Russian must be translated into Lithuanian.
If a pensioner who is moving from Russia to Lithuania does not have the right to receive a pension under the law of Republic of Lithuania, the Russian Federation will continue to pay the pension until he or she has acquired the right to receive a pension in Lithuania. In this case, for the renewal of payment of the pension, you must contact the "Sodra" department and submit:
- an application to renew the payment of a pension granted in Russia addressed to the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation;
- an identity document;
- a pensioner's certificate, issued in Russia (if a person has such one).
The aforementioned documents will be sent to the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, which will address the issue of renewal of payment of the pension granted in Russia.
The pensioner, who came from Ukraine to Lithuania, must receive a document authorizing the right to live in Lithuania and to declare his / her place of residence.
For the renewal of payment of a pension, you must contact the "Sodra" department and submit:
- an application to renew the payment of a pension granted in Ukraine. The application in Russian in a free form stating the address at which the person lived in Ukraine, the territorial unit of the Pension Fund of the Ukraine which paid him a pension, bank and personal account to which the pension in Lithuania will be transferred;
- an identity document – a passport of the Republic of Lithuania, identity card or permit for permanent / temporary residence in Lithuania;
- a pensioner's certificate issued in Ukraine (if a person has such one).
The payment of the pension granted in Ukraine is continued by the Pension Fund of the Ukraine through the "Sodra" Vilnius department.
The pensioner, who came from Belarus to Lithuania, must receive a document authorizing the right to live in Lithuania and to declare a place of residence.
For the renewal of payment of a pension, you must contact the "Sodra" department and submit:
- an application to renew the payment of a pension granted in Belarus. The application in Russian in a free form stating that the person wishes to renew the payment of the pension (in no way specify "to grant a pension") as well as the address at which the person lived in Belarus, who was paid to him by the territorial unit of the Residential Social Security Fund of the Belarus, bank and personal account to which the pension in Lithuania will be transferred;
- an identity document – a passport of the Republic of Lithuania, identity card or permit for permanent / temporary residence in Lithuania;
- a pensioner's certificate issued in Belarus (if a person has such one).
The payment of the pension granted in Belarus is continued by the Social Security Fund of the Belarus through the "Sodra" Vilnius department.
With regard to the pension granted by the USA, the person himself must receive information from the institution which paid him a pension when he has lived there.
With regard to the payment of a pension from countries with which agreements are not concluded, the person himself must receive information from the institutions which paid pensions to him when he has lived in those countries.
