For self-employed persons

A decision has been adopted by the Order No 1K-88 of the Director of the National Health Insurance Fund of 23 March 2020 not to terminate the validity of the period of compulsory health insurance during the quarantine period for persons who have no arrears of compulsory health insurance contributions and who, due to the published quarantine regime, paid (or will pay) these contributions late (or after the end of the quarantine).

After the entry into force of the amendments to the Law on Health Insurance (in lithuanian), self-employed persons, who were unable to pay this contribution during the quarantine period, will be required to do so within 2 years of the date on which the Government lifts the emergency and the quarantine or from the moment the deadlines of their announcement expire.

If self-employed persons will not pay CHI contributions within the set time limit when they have been provided with personal health care services during the specified period, these persons will be obliged to compensate damage caused to the budget of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund.
